Configuration Technician

The Configuration Technician is responsible for performing the pre-configuration of equipment prior to shipment to customers. The pre-configuration is to be performed in a quality and consistent manner in accordance with documented instructions. Equipment pre-configuration shall also be validated to ensure the proper functioning of the equipment prior to shipment.

The Configuration Technician shall also support the Inventory and Asset Management team in the testing, troubleshooting of customer returned equipment via RMA’s. As necessary, the testing performed will help with the disposition of the returned units.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform job responsibilities in a quality and professional manner.
• Maintain technical expertise in company products, services and industry trends.
• Perform the pre-configuration of customer equipment prior to shipment in a quality and consistent manner.
• Support Inventory and Asset Management with testing field returns to determine disposition.
• Obtain proper training in equipment in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

EXPERIENCE AND STANDARDS:

• Technical acumen able to understand equipment configurations and settings.
• 3-5 years of experience with small to rapidly growing multi-site technology firm.
• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Technical or related field, preferred.
• Beginner to intermediate knowledge of firewall configuration and installation.
• Understanding of TCP/IP and ability to troubleshoot network issues utilizing ARP, PING, IPCONFIG, TRACEROUTE, NSLOOKUP, etc.
• Industry certifications such as CCNA, A+, Security+, preferred.
• Possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Detail oriented and ability to analyze and process complex problems.
• Independent, self-motivated individual that is able to work alone in completing assignments.
