AWS Key Management Service (KMS)

AWS KMS stands for Amazon Web Services Key Management Service. It is a service that enables you to create and manage encryption keys in the AWS cloud 1. You can use AWS KMS to encrypt data, digitally sign data, encrypt within your applications, and generate MACs with asymmetric and HMAC keys 1.

In other words, AWS KMS lets you create, manage, and control cryptographic keys across your applications and AWS services 1. You can use AWS KMS to encrypt data across your AWS workloads, digitally sign data, encrypt within your applications using AWS Encryption SDK, and generate and verify message authentication codes (MACs) 1.
