Partnership provides unparalleled end-to-end security visibility

Columbia, MD – Upholding its commitment of providing comprehensive, cross-platform Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) capabilities, Prism Microsystems today announced a strategic partnership with Patrick Townsend and Associates, a leading provider of software and consulting services to the IBM midrange community. Together, the companies will deliver a powerful and cost-effective way to correlate log data from IBM iSeries servers with data from other sources for centralized security monitoring that extends from the firewall to the application and database level.

As one of the more robust hardware platforms available today, many companies depend on the IBM iSeries to house mission-critical applications that process large volumes of sensitive data. It is therefore critical for the iSeries to integrate seamlessly into an overall enterprise security and compliance program. Like all platforms the iSeries today is far more vulnerable than before because of increased connectivity and multiple access points – the very things that make systems susceptible to costly data breaches. As documented on a regular basis in the media, cyber attacks are growing in both number and sophistication. Companies need to implement solutions that are capable of integrating all of their existing technologies for comprehensive, enterprise-wide monitoring.

“Our partnership with Patrick Townsend and Associates provides our joint customers with tighter security through real-time correlation of events generated by iSeries systems with data from other sources” said Steve Lafferty, VP of Marketing at Prism Microsystems Inc. “This end-to-end approach is crucial for plugging security blind spots that often exist in IT infrastructures and make companies vulnerable to all forms of internal and external attacks.”

“We are excited to be working with such a trusted leader in SIEM technology. Partnering with Prism Microsystems enables our customers to leverage their existing event log information from all sources and fold it into an overall security and compliance strategy, in an extremely cost-effective, scalable and integrated approach,” said Patrick Townsend, President of Patrick Townsend and Associates.

EventTracker and the Alliance LogAgent for System i, by Patrick Townsend and Associates, together provide comprehensive security monitoring for large enterprises with their combined capabilities. Alliance LogAgents extract all IBM system i journal entries in real-time and convert them to the syslog format, while EventTracker agents collect all log data from other sources including Windows, Unix/Linux, Solaris BSM, SNMP devices, Checkpoint Firewalls and software applications. This data is then sent to the EventTracker console in real-time where it is correlated and made available for review and reporting.

EventTracker is a powerful yet highly scalable, easy to deploy solution that integrates Log Management and Change Management capabilities for comprehensive security. “We want our customers to know that no matter what systems they choose to implement, we are committed to meeting their SIEM needs” added Lafferty.
